The Upper Iowa shotgun sports team took part in a midweek dual vs. Hawkeye Community College on Wednesday. The event took place at Izzak Walton League in Washburn, Iowa. Each competitor shot 100 skeet targets with the top five totals counting towards the team's overall score

The Peacocks were victorious in the head-to-head matchup, outshooting the RedTails by a score of 455/500 to 449/500 targets.
Lucas Riberich,
Colton Heintz-Kuderer,
Angelina Monfrey,
Connor Gittings, and
Brady Carrigan contributed to the winning team score.Â

Riberich placed first with the top score among male competitors by breaking 97/100 targets. Heintz-Kuderer recorded the fifth best score among male competitors at 91/100. Gittings (89/100) and Carrigan (87/100) rounded out the qualifying scores.

In addition to contributing to the team score, Monfrey placed first as the top female competitor with a total of 91/100.
Boe Caplan finished third best breaking 75/100 targets.

"The team did well and endured some challenging conditions with off and on rain, as well as lighting changes with the sunset and stadium lights." said Head Coach

Up next, the UIU shotgun sports team is scheduled to host Wartburg College for a dual on October 11.
