Upper Iowa's volleyball team controlled all three phases of their volleyball match with Bemidji State University on Friday night in Fayette. The Peacocks outscored the Beavers 54-24 in the three sets and tallied advantages of 31-17 in kills, 49-38 in digs, 8-4 in blocks and 15-3 in aces. The decisive victory snapped a three-match slide and improved UIU's home record to 3-2. UIU is now 11-8 overall and 5-7 in the conference, while BSU fell to 3-17 overall and 2-10 in the NSIC.
The home team won the three sets by counts of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-2. Upper Iowa hit .200 in the match thanks to 31 kills and 13 attack errors on just 90 swings. The Peacocks held their guests to a negative .100 clip forcing 27 attack errors in 100 swings and allowing only 17 kills to the Beavers.Â
Kaci Beesecker led the Peacocks with 17 digs and seven service aces.
Sarah Stevelinck added nine digs, while
Nicole Pozorski and
Lydia Imbrogno each chipped in eight digs.
Zoe Semelroth registered a team-high 13 kills and added four service aces and three blocks. Both
Carlee Dove and Pozorski also recorded three blocks. In addition to Semelroth's baker's dozen in kills,
Emily Kono chipped in eight kills. The pair hit .524 and .438, respectively, and combined for 21 kills and just three errors in 37 swings.
The Peacocks will line up with the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota Crookston on Saturday in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium. UIU and UMC are scheduled for a first serve at 2 p.m.
