The Upper Iowa shotgun sports team competed in their second dual of the season on Tuesday vs. Wartburg College. The matchup took place locally at Kornhill Shooting Range in Fayette. Each competitor shot 100 trap targets with the top five totals counting towards the team's overall score

The Peacocks moved to 2-0 in duals this season, defeating the Knights with a final score of 470/500. Wartburg finished just seven targets short of winning with a score of 464/500.Â

Colton Heintz-Kuderer finished in first place among male competitors with a near perfect score of 99/100.
Jayden Shaw took second place with a score of 95/100, while
Brady Carrigan earned a third-place finish with a score of 93/100.
Gage Witzke (92/100) and
Connor Gittings (91/100) also contributed to the team's winning score.

Angelina Monfrey finished second among female competitors with a score of 88/100.
Boe Caplan cracked the top five with a score of 81/100.

"Even though we were at our home range, the wind conditions were some of the most challenging we have encountered, as they caused the targets to climb." said Head Coach
Reba Kingsley. "Overall, the team did great executing their shots and has momentum going into this weekend's competition."

Up next, the UIU shotgun sports team will head to Pella, Iowa to compete in the William Penn Invite beginning on October 14.
