GAME ONE: Winona State 2, Upper Iowa 0

After a scoreless start to the ballgame, Winona State scored a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings. A trio of free passes followed by a single scored the first run while a pair of base knocks provided the other. Neither team scored from that point forward allowing the Warriors to cruise to a 2-0 win in the seven-inning set.

Jarrett Ramer had a strong outing highlighted by a 1-2-3 third inning despite being awarded the loss. The second year freshman allowed two earned runs on six hits and three free passes while setting down a duo on strikes in his 4.2 innings on the bump. Chris Webber finished off game one with 1.1 scoreless innings. The Peacock closer did not allow a hit, walked one batter and struck out another. Bailey Banaszynski got the complete-game shutout win for the Warriors striking out nine while allowing seven on, three via hit, in seven innings of work.

GAME TWO: Winona State 8, Upper Iowa 1

Winona State's first five runs came unanswered and were dispersed in the middle innings. WSU put up three runs in the third thanks to a pair of singles followed by a three-run blast off the bat of Austin Savary. Another dinger, this time a solo shot driven to the opposite field by Carter Brinkman made it 4-0 in the fourth. The Warriors' final score of the stretch came in their ensuing at-bats thanks to a leadoff double and a sac fly.

The Peacocks got on the board in the sixth. UIU's first and only run of the day was scored by none other than Jake Hilmer, the Peacocks' leading scorer. Three consecutive singles from Hilmer, Samuel Grushkin, and Hogan Penny pushed the run across. Winona got two back in the following inning on a couple of free passes, a pair of singles, and an untimely balk. WSU tacked on an eighth and final run in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a walk and a double. The Peacocks put a pair of runners on in the top of the ninth as Nolan Friedrichs singled and Steve Marhefke walked in back-to-back pinch-hit appearances. However, UIU was unable to score resulting in the 8-1 loss.

Duncan Snider got the start in game two. The senior spanned five innings of work where he allowed five earned runs on nine hits while striking out four. The outing marked Snider's first-ever at Upper Iowa where he did not allow a runner on via walk. Four arms out of the Peacock pen saw action. Brennan Sefrit went two-thirds of an inning where he allowed two earned runs. Keaton Parker followed with a scoreless frame of work where he fanned a pair of batters. Colin Lacey and Grant Ver Voort each went 0.2 innings, Lacey allowed an unearned run and struck out one while Ver Voort held the Warriors scoreless to end the Peacock's day on defense.
