The No. 9 Peacock wrestling team opened their Northern Sun Conference slate with a dual at No. 22 Augustana University on Friday night in Sioux Falls, S.D. Upper Iowa won three of the first five matches in the dual, but the Vikings stormed back and claimed all five of the final matches to claim a 29-9 win. Augie improved to 1-1 on the year and 1-0 in the conference, while UIU dropped to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC.
 
Augustana claimed a 26-13 advantage in takedowns and a 6-0 advantage in nearfalls on the way to their seven wins. All three of UIU's wins came by decision, while the home team grabbed a pair of decisions as well as a fall, two tech falls and two majors.
 
Kaden Anderlik (133), Connor Manderfeld (141) and Chase Luensman (157, No. 9) claimed Upper Iowa's three victories.
 
Anderlik scored two takedowns in both the first and third periods of his match with Jack Huffman and added an escape and a ride time point to secure his 10-4 win. With the win, Anderlik improves to 8-1 on the season.
 
Manderfeld was taken down by Kenneth Lenger in the first period, but rallied with a reversal to tie the bout at 2-2. Leading 3-2 heading into the third period, Lenger got a second takedown after Manderfeld had tied the score with an escape to begin the frame. Once again, Manderfeld fought from behind to escape and then recorded his only takedown of the match to win 6-5 and move to 5-0 for the season.
 
Cade Mueller scored the first points of his bout with Luensman on a takedown, but the Peacock junior bounced back with a reversal and two takedowns in the opening frame. Luensman kept the pressure on in the third period with a second reversal and third takedown to post a 10-6 win to push his record to 10-1 for the year.
 
Myron Crawford (184) was leading Kolby Kost 6-3 after the first period thanks to three takedowns, but in the second period the tide turned. Kost escaped, scored a takedown and then worked his controlling position into a fall with the score tied at 6-6.
 
Upper Iowa will spend the next nine days getting healthy and ready to host the Mules of the University of Central Missouri in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.
