Upper Iowa returned to the road for a Friday Northern Sun Conference volleyball match at Bemidji State University. The contest was UIU's fourth in a five-match road trip through Minnesota and North Dakota. The Peacocks posted their third straight sweep and controlled the action with the Beavers by set scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-14. With the win, Upper Iowa improved to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the NSIC, while Bemidji State dropped to 0-14 on the year and 0-6 in the conference.

Upper Iowa's efficiency was their Achilles' heel in the first set. UIU converted 13 kills, but racked up 7 attack errors in their 36 swings for a .167 hitting percentage. The Peacocks still found their way to a big 24-17 lead in the first frame, but Bemidji State scored five of the final six points to climb all the way back to a three-point deficit when UIU closed out the set.

In the second and third sets, UIU's offense was in high gear converting 29 kills on just 53 swings with only five attack errors. Upper Iowa hit .417 in the second and .483 in the third and pulled away from their hosts for the three-set sweep.

After allowing the Beavers 11 kills and a .229 hitting percentage in the first set, the Peacock defense buckled down and held the home team to just 18 total kills and hitting percentages of .077 and .118 in the final two sets.

Upper Iowa brought their top effort to the service line as well registering a 9-2 advantage in service aces led by
Nicole Pozorski's five and
Madelyn Rettler's three.

Defensively,
Charisma Herr picked up 16 digs and added 4 assists, while Rettler chipped in 12 digs and 6 kills.
Carlee Dove posted two blocks at the net.

On the attack,
Kaitlin Niedert led the offense with 17 kills and a .533 hitting percentage thanks to only one attack error.
Maggie Streightiff added 9 kills with an .800 hitting percentage converting her points on all but one swing. Pozorski set up the offense with 31 assists.

The Peacocks will return to the court Saturday afternoon in Crookston, Minnesota. Upper Iowa will line up against the University of Minnesota Crookston at 2 p.m.
