Natalie Dinius posted career-high scoring, Jessica Musgrave registered her first double-double, and the Peacock women's basketball team rallied late in the fourth to send the game into overtime, but the Bemidji State University Beavers sank a jumper with just half a second left on the clock to sneak past Upper Iowa 74-72 on Friday evening. BSU improves to 7-8 overall and 4-7 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, while Upper Iowa moves to 2-15 (1-10 NSIC).

After falling behind by as many as 12 in the fourth quarter, Upper Iowa rallied all the way back with a 17-5 run to send the game into extra minutes. The visitors started the extra period with four points before two free throws from Brooke Evenson and Dinius' sixth triple of the night gave Upper Iowa its first lead since the opening quarter, 71-70. Dinius sank a free throw moments later to tie the game at 72-all, but Brooklyn Bachmann hit the game-winning basket with just half a second to play to seal the overtime win.

The Peacocks shot 38.5 percent from the floor, made a season-high 46.2 percent of their attempts from downtown and converted 76.9 percent of their shots at the line. Bemidji State dominated the paint with a 44-22 scoring advantage thanks to 56.1 percent shooting inside the arc. Despite their success under the basket, the Beavers struggled behind the arc and at the line making just 22.7 percent and 65.0 percent of their attempts, respectively.

The first 20 minutes were tightly-contested with the Beavers earning a one-point advantage in each frame to take a 33-31 lead into intermission. Fueled by an 8-0 run, UIU took an 11-5 lead at the first media timeout of the night. The Beavers then responded with a 22-6 run to capture their largest lead of the half, 27-17, but Upper Iowa clawed its way back into it with tough play on both sides of the ball to trail by one score at the break.

Upper Iowa managed to stay within four for most of the third quarter until a late 6-0 run helped Bemidji State to a 56-49 lead that later turned into a 12-point advantage with 7:40 left in the quarter. Jessica Musgrave then hit a layup that sparked the Peacocks late-game rally. After pulling within two scores, 66-61, with just over two minutes left in regulation, Marina Peinado and Lexie Lodermeier each found Dinius open for the five points needed to tie the game. On the ensuing possession, Megan Peterson turned away Trinity Myer's go-ahead look to send the game into extra minutes where the Beavers outlasted the Peacocks for the road win.
