As the calendar moved into the summer months, the Upper Iowa Athletics Department realigned some duties to become a more efficient administration to provide the University, the department, coaches, staff, student-athletes and fans with the best effort and product. Three promotions highlighted the changes.

Rick Hartzell begins his third academic year with the Peacock athletics department after joining UIU as the Director of Athletics in January 2018. Hartzell was promoted to Vice President for Athletics. The athletics department has grown to 23 sports in 2019-20 and the total number of Peacock student-athletes will top the 500 mark this coming fall.

Emily Preussner, who came to Upper Iowa in August 2015 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year. Preussner will continue to act as the Director of Business Affairs for the department in the future.

Sarah Swanson will begin her first year as the department's Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations and will oversee ticketing and game day marketing and promotions. Swanson has been at UIU for a year and served as the Graduate Assistant for Athletics Administration in 2018-19.

Brock Wissmiller, Associate Athletic Director-Director of Athletic Development, enters his ninth year with Upper Iowa, while Danielle Rosario Cushion, Senior Woman Administrator and Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services, begins her fifth year with the Peacocks.

Howard Thompson, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Communication, starts his 18th year in Fayette and 14th focusing on sports communication. Matt Rueckert, Head Athletic Trainer, enters his 17th year at Upper Iowa and 13th as the Head Athletic Trainer, while Alex Kline will begin his first full year as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach after being promoted to the position in the spring of 2019.

Camilla York joins the Peacock athletic administrative team as a Student-Athlete Success Postgraduate Intern. A native of Hove, England, York graduated from Augsburg University with a Master's degree in leadership and from Georgia College with a Bachelor's degree in community health. She will work closely with Rosario Cushion and Preussner in her year with Upper Iowa. The position is a 10-month internship through the NCAA under the Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant program and is fully funded by the NCAA.

The administrative group will be complete with the addition of a final graduate assistant. The position will be filled prior to August.
