The Upper Iowa women's basketball team dropped their final road test of the regular season to the University of Sioux Falls Cougars on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 69-47. The Peacocks took an eight point advantage into the break but were outscored 41-11 in the second half to dip to 3-25 overall and 0-20 in the conference. With the win, the Cougars improve to 19-7 overall and 14-6 against conference foes.

Upper Iowa won both of the opening quarters thanks to solid shooting by the Peacocks. Eight of UIU's 12 first half baskets were scored from beyond the arc, which helped the Peacocks claim a 36-28 halftime lead. Natalie Dinius made 3-of-4 attempts from deep, Emma Gaber added two, and the unusual long-range suspects Savannah Domeyer and Ally Fink combined for three. The Peacocks shot 50.0 percent from the field, 61.5 percent from distance and 100.0 percent at the stripe in the first half while holding the Cougars to 36.7 precent from the floor, 30.0 percent behind the line and 75.0 percent at the line.

The Peacocks quickly saw their lead evaporate in the second half as Sioux Falls made proper halftime adjustments and opened the 3rd quarter on a 15-0 run to regain the lead. The Peacocks missed their first 15 shots of the second half before Bekka Pierson finally got UIU on the board with a three-point play and 2:53 left in the quarter. Haley Martin added a score to cut the Cougar lead to five, 46-41, but USF closed out the game on a 23-6 run for the 22-point NSIC victory.

Domeyer led the Peacocks with 11 points, seven boards, and two blocks while Dinius added nine and Gaber finished with eight. Martin had six points and four rebounds, and Casey Miles handed out four assists.

USF was led by Kaely Hummel who finished with 20 points fueled by five makes from downtown. Anna Goodhope recorded a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Carlson added 11 points and five boards.

Upper Iowa will return back to Dorman Gymnasium for the final regular season matches of the year. The Peacocks will face Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. before Saturday's contest against Concordia University, St. Paul at 3:30 p.m.
