THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK WOMEN'S SOCCER… The Upper Iowa women's soccer team closes out their 2019 season on Friday with a final Northern Sun Conference match at Winona State University. The Peacocks will bring their 3-10-4 overall record and 3-8-3 NSIC mark into the 5 p.m. contest in Winona, Minn. The Warriors are two points out of a spot in the Northern Sun Conference Championships, which begin next week. Winona State and Upper Iowa both lost matches to Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls last weekend. WSU is 7-10 overall and 6-8 against conference opponents.

LIVE OPTIONS… Fans unable to attend the match can follow along via live stats and a webcast, links can be found at UIUPeacocks.com/Live. The match will also be streamed through the NSIC app on Roku and Amazon Fire devices, as well as Apple and Android televisions.

NSIC CHAMPIONSHIPS… Seven of the eight spots in the upcoming Northern Sun Conference Championships have been reserved although the regular season title is still a three-team race between Minnesota State University, Mankato, Concordia University, St. Paul and Augustana University. Bemidji State University, St. Cloud State University, the University of Mary and Southwest Minnesota State have also secured spots although the final standings will shift based on Friday's action. Wayne State College has a two-point lead on Winona State heading into their match with Augustana on Friday.

ABOUT THE PEACOCKS… Upper Iowa has scored 13 goals in their 17 matches this season led by sophomore Haley Ramberg, who has scored 3 goals. Senior Facienne Graham and Aimee Kemper each have a pair of goals scored, while six other Peacocks have a goal each. Graham leads the team in assists with 2, while four players have registered an assist. The Peacocks have earned a 95-69 advantage in corner kicks this season, but the team has struggled finishing the corner service off the feet of sophomores Katie Samuels and Aimee Sies. Sophomore Natalie Rudrud has been between the pipes for nearly 1,600 minutes allowing 27 goals while grabbing 116 saves.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS… Junior Georgette Topalis has been the offensive catalyst for Winona State this season, registering a career-best seven goals. She has made the most of her scoring opportunities all year, landing half of her 14 shots on goal in the back of the net. Topalis has also tallied one assist and ranks 13th in the NSIC in total points (15). The Warriors have some of the fastest players in the conference running down the line in senior Courtney Wiencek and freshman Jaida Wiege. Both have tallied three goals on the year while Wiencek has a team-leading three assists with Wiege right behind at two. Winona State has been able to play through the outside a lot more this year because they know that no matter how far the ball goes, Wiencek and Wiege can run it down. Wiege has used her pace to unload a team-high 51 shots on the year.

LAST TIME THEY MET… Last season, the Warriors and Peacocks played a scoreless first half in Fayette, but Winona State wasted little time in the second half scoring a pair of goals in the first six minutes which led to their 2-0 victory. The first score came on a penalty kick. WSU outshot UIU 23-5 including a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal.
