The Upper Iowa men's basketball team dropped their matchup against the UM Crookston Golden Eagles 100-69 on Saturday night. The Peacocks drop to 6-12 on the Season and 3-9 against NSIC competition. Upper Iowa will return to Dorman for a pair of NSIC tilts next weekend after playing their last four games away from home.Â
The Peacock offense was unable to match the shooting efficiency of the Golden Eagles throughout Saturday's game. UM Crookston connected on 54 percent of their shots including hitting 13 of 25 three-pointers. On the other end of the floor, Upper Iowa managed to connect on just 37.7 of their shots and knocked down 11 of their 28 attempts from beyond the arc.
For the second straight night,
Jareese Williams led the Peacocks in scoring with 15 points from three buckets from beyond the arc and a four for five night from the line. Two other Peacocks finished with double-digits scoring; Jackson Joes finished with 11 points on a four for seven night with three long-range shots and
Sam Allen recorded 10 points after going a perfect three for three from the field.Â
Upper Iowa could not slow down the NSIC's third ranked scorer in Harrison Cleary who ran away with 25 points against the Peacocks. Chase Knickerbocker (21), Brian Sitzmann (18), and Malcolm Cohen (12) round out Crookston's top scorers.Â
The Peacocks were efficient from the charity stripe Saturday night, hitting 12 of 13 free throws as a team.
Jake Zielke was a perfect four for four from the line, Williams hit four of his five, and
Sam Allen and
Jackson Foley each hit both of their free throws.
Peacocks hoops returns to Fayette next weekend for a pair of home NSIC matchups. Upper Iowa will square off against Sioux falls on Friday night at 7:30pm followed by a 5:30pm tipoff against Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday.
