THE SERIES... Upper Iowa has posted wins in four of the last five meetings with Concordia University, St. Paul after the Golden Bears won the first seven games in the matchup. The Peacocks' 4-8 record includes a 28-24 win in 2013, a 52-20 victory in 2015, a 41-21 win in 2017 and last season's 34-29 victory. The lone blemish over the last five seasons came in 2014 when the Golden Bears rallied for a 37-34 overtime victory at Sea Foam Stadium in St. Paul. The series began in 2006 and the two teams have locked up in six games where the margin of victory was four points or less. The Peacocks lost 20-17 in 2007 and dropped a wild 57-56 double overtime game in Fayette in 2009. The 2011 contest marked another down-to-the-wire decision in the final quarter; Concordia claimed a come-from-behind, one-point win, 20-19, after scoring 13 points in the final four minutes of the game. Last year in Fayette, the Peacock football team held a two-score lead with nine minutes to play, but a late touchdown by the guests got them back in the game, 34-29. CSP then drove down the field late, only to be stopped on a fourth-down try, and UIU held on for a hard-fought, five-point victory.

SOPHOMORES HIT CENTURY MARK... Wide receivers DJ Emsweller and Alexander Stevens combined for 251 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns on 14 catches last week against Augustana. Emsweller's 144 yards were the 14th highest mark last week in NCAA Division II and his two touchdowns tie for the 5th most in the nation. Stevens' 107 yards were 43rd best in the country.

SENIOR SIGNAL CALLER... Senior quarterback Brent Lammers completed 20 of his 41 attempts last week for 325 yards and 4 touchdowns. The yardage was the 8th most in the country while his 4 scoring throws tie for the fourth highest tally in week one. Lammers added 61 yards on the ground for 386 yards of total offense ranking 7th in all of NCAA Division II last week.

LEADING THE DEFENSE... Seniors Nicolas Corley and Jordan Rommes led the team in tackles with 13 and 11, respectively. Corley's 13 stops rank 20th in the nation, while Rommes' 11 tie for 45th in week one. Rommes recorded the only sack for Upper Iowa, but it was a big one. Rommes forced a fumble, which was scooped up by Christian Ruff and returned 20 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. Daniel Ruffin Jr. snared the lone interception in week for UIU and returned the pick 34 yards into Viking territory.

FRESH KICKS... Freshman kicker and punter Jonathon Argueta-Herrera had a solid debut for the Peacocks. The Des Moines East High product went 6-6 on his extra point attempts and added a 29-yard field goal for the team's first points of the season. Argueta-Herrera kicked off 8 times averaging 53.6 yards per kick and punted 6 times averaging 30.7 yards per attempt.

THE BROADCAST TEAM... Play-byplay announcer, and 1991 Upper Iowa alum, Joe Stasi is in his 16th consecutive season as the "Voice of the Peacocks" and 18th overall. This week, Stasi will be joined by Warren Reyerson. The AM 950 KOEL pre-game show is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
