To the Polls... The American Volleyball Coaches Association has released their weekly regular season Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll and Upper Iowa is one of eight Northern Sun Conference schools in the rankings or receiving votes. The Peacocks are receiving votes for the 15th straight time but fell to the 32nd team in the nation. Upper Iowa joins seven other Northern Sun Conference members in the preseason poll including four of the top seven teams ranked programs in the nation; No. 2 Northern State University, No. 3 Concordia University, St. Paul, No. 6 University of Minnesota Duluth, No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State University and No. 18 Wayne State College. Augustana University and Minnesota State University, Mankato are also receiving votes.

A Quick Look in the Rearview… The Peacocks lost their two matches last week to open the Northern Sun Conference season with a home defeat at the hands of No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul and a road loss at Minnesota State. The Peacocks held a four-point lead late in their opening set with the Golden Bears, but CSP rallied to control the second and third sets. UIU and MSU bounced back and forth exchanging wins over the first four sets before the Mavericks won the final set. The loss on Saturday marked the first loss to a team not appearing in the AVCA Top 25 or receiving votes in the poll since Nov. 4, 2016. The Mavericks began receiving votes after defeating Winona State University and Upper Iowa last week.
