The Peacock women's basketball team took to the court in the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa to face the NCAA Division I Panthers of the University of Northern Iowa in the team's final exhibition game of the preseason. UNI hit the offensive glass and forced several turnovers to defeat UIU 89-41 on Sunday afternoon.

The Panthers outscored their guests 21-11, 26-9, 26-10 and 16-11 in the four quarters, but struggled with their shooting percentage. UNI hit just 37% from the field, but used 33 offensive rebounds to create second and third opportunities at the net.

Upper Iowa shot 30.4% from the field hitting one of their 13 three-point attempts. The Peacocks were 13 for 33 inside the arc, but could not take advantage of their trips to the free throw line. UIU left 14 points at the charity stripe after converting just 12 of their 26 free throws. Turnovers proved to be a problem for UIU as well; the Panthers forced 26 giveaways in the game.

Bekka Pierson led all scorers in the game with 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting. The junior forward also grabbed 4 rebounds.
Natalie Dinius added 8 points, while
Emma Gaber,
Haley Martin and
Caylin Rufus each added 4 points.
Savannah Domeyer grabbed 4 rebounds and Dinius handed out 3 of the team's 4 assists.

Upper Iowa will open their season against Missouri Western State University and Fort Hays State University this coming Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9-10 in Hays, Kansas.
