Upper Iowa dropped a game at Wayne State College on Friday night, 91-51, to fall to 4-21 overall and 4-17 in the Northern Sun. Wayne State improved to 20-6 overall and 15-6 against conference opponents.

The Peacocks fell behind early in the first quarter, but rallied behind a three-pointer from
Sam Ofstad to take a 7-6 lead. After UIU took their only lead in the first quarter, the Wildcats used a 9-0 run to push out to an eight-point advantage, 15-7. Ofstad dialed in from deep again with under two minutes to play in the quarter to cut the margin back to three, 15-12. As the buzzer sounded at the end of the quarter, Wayne State held a 21-16 advantage on the scoreboard.

UIU's offense had a rough start to the second quarter with turnovers on four straight possessions to open the frame. While the offense was slow to get going, the defense kept the Peacocks close. Upper Iowa held the Wildcats scoreless over the first five minutes of the quarter. A 9-0 run by UIU after the early giveaways gave the Peacocks their second and final lead of the night.
Ashley Ray scored five points in the run and
Carly Pagel added four to put the Peacocks ahead 25-21. WCS closed out the half by outscoring UIU 15-4 over the final five minutes prior to halftime.

Unfortunately, the final five minutes of the second quarter was a precursor to the remainder of the game. In the second half, Wayne State outscored their guests 55-22 to run away with a 91-51 victory. Wayne State held large advantages in points in the paint (48-20), points off turnovers (20-10) and fastbreak points (10-0).

The Wildcats controlling second half was fueled by 18-31 shooting (58%) from the field including 4-6 from the three-point line. Upper Iowa converted only 6 of their 26 second half shots.

Carly Pagel led the Peacocks, who were without the injured
Blair Klostermann, with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Anna Martensen scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Wayne State.

The Peacocks will wrap up the regular season on Saturday evening at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. The Vikings and Peacocks will tip at 4 p.m.
