The Peacock women's basketball team ran into a buzz saw on Saturday evening in Sioux Falls, S.D. Augustana controlled the first half to the tune of a 55-16 lead at the break; the Vikings claimed the Northern Sun Conference South Division title handing the Peacocks a 93-42 loss. Augustana improved to 22-7 overall and 17-5 against NSIC competition, while Upper Iowa fell to 4-22 overall and 4-18 in the conference.

Blake Bergren scored a team-high 12 points to lead Upper Iowa, while
Haley Martin pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds.
Sam Ofstad handed out 5 assists in the game accounting for all but one of UIU's assist.

As a team, the Peacocks struggled from the field hitting just 16 field goals in the game including a pair of three-pointers. The Vikings, on the other hand, converted 52.1% of their shots knocking down 37 field goals including 17 triples. Augustana registered 27 assists as they made the extra pass all night.

The home team won the first three quarters by scores of 22-4, 33-12 and 24-13 as they claimed big advantages in points off turnovers, 19-2, and fast break points, 26-4.

Four Vikings scored in double figures with Sydney Rome leading the way with 16 points and Lynsey Prosser netting 15 poitns. Shelby Selland and Allie Koehn both added 12 points for Augustana. In total, the Vikings got scores from 11 different players.

Upper Iowa closed out the regular season in seventh place in the NSIC South Division standings. The Peacocks will travel to Aberdeen, S.D. on Wednesday, Feb. 22 for the first round of the NSIC / Sanford Health Basketball Tournament. UIU will take on the Wolves of Northern State University, the second place team in the NSIC North Division, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. UIU lost in Aberdeen, 86-63, two weeks ago in the teams' only meeting of the season.
