Upper Iowa men's soccer dropped to 0-3 in the MIAA on Sunday afternoon in Tahlequah, Okla. after dropping a 3-0 decision to the RiverHawks of Northeastern State University. The Peacocks were outshot 13-7 in the loss, and surrendered a pair of second-half goals that put the game away. With the loss, UIU falls to 4-4 overall, while Northeastern State improves to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in league play.
The first half featured just seven total shot attempts, with NSU holding a 5-2 edge in that category. The scoring started in the 19th minute when Ismael Serratos scored his second goal of the season to get the RiverHawks on the board. The goal was scored just in front of the net, and the visitors would hold that lead going into halftime. Goalkeeper

In the second half, Northeastern State put the game away in a six-minute span, that started in the 52nd minute. Joe Garcia scored on the left side after receiving a pass from Serratos, and Garcia was not done. Six minutes later in the 58th minute, Garcia scored again, and effectively ended the game, with his team leading 3-0.
For the match, UIU was outshot 13-7, including a 7-2 disadvantage in shots placed on goal. Rortvedt tallied four saves for the game, but falls to 4-4 in net this season. UIU actually held a 2-1 lead in corner kicks, but was unable to find a way to score.
The Peacocks' six-game road trip is over, and UIU will return home for the first time since Sept. 3. UIU will host Fort Hays State on Friday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. at Pattison Field. The game can be seen on UIU TV online and will be broadcast in eastern Iowa on KCRG TV 9.2.
