The Upper Iowa women's soccer team dropped the final game at the SMSU Mustang Classic on Saturday afternoon to the Tigers of Fort Hays State. FHSU scored a pair of goals in the first half, and capped it off with a goal in the 85th minute to shutout the Peacocks 3-0. With the loss, UIU drops to 1-1 on the young season, while Fort Hays State begins the year 2-0.
In the 11th minute, Eden Stoddard took a pass from Darby Hirsch and scored the first of her two goals in the game. Stoddard added to the lead in the 35th minute to put FHSU up 2-0 in the first half. The Peacocks trailed in both shot attempts (9-2) in the first period, while both teams earned three corners.
The second 45 minutes were much of the same. The Tigers held the advantage in shots (7-2), and corners earned (7-1). FHSU put a cap on the shutout in the 85th minute, when Vianei Sanchez scored.

Caila Petrie suffers the loss in goal, but did post six saves in the match.
Upper Iowa will return to the pitch on Friday, Sept. 9 when they open up the home and NSIC schedule with a match against Winona State University. Kickoff with the Warriors is scheduled for 3 p.m.
