The Upper Iowa women's soccer team took to the turf at Harms-Eischeid Stadium in Fayette Saturday afternoon for their final exhibition game of the season. The Peacocks and the Kohawks of Coe College ended in a scoreless tie in another matchup of former Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals.
It was a first half dominated by defense. Each side registered two shots, while UIU trailed their guests 2-1 in shots placed on goal and corners earned. Peacock goalkeeper Caila Petrie recorded two saves behind stellar defensive play from the Peacock backline.
Upper Iowa controlled play in the second half, tallying 10 shot attempts, but were unable to convert them into goals. The Peacocks made it difficult for Coe to get anything going, as the Kohawks registered just one shot in the final frame. Midway through the second half, both Briane Fenton and Jordyn Ostrowski had chances but missed wide. With under ten minutes to play, Maggie Olson's best look was saved by the Kohawks.
UIU dominated their guests in shot attempts (12-3) and corners earned (9-2), but both defenses held strong enough to end in a stalemate.
The Peacocks will open the season in Marshall, Minn. facing off against Washburn University and Fort Hays State University on Sept. 1 and 3 in the SMSU Mustang Classic.
