The Peacocks found a balanced attack on Saturday as they faced #13 Northern State University, but the nationally-ranked Wolves outlasted their guests to sweep the match by set scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-22. UIU has lost seven straight matches to fall to 9-14 overall and 3-11 in the NSIC, while Northern State improves to 16-6 overall and 9-5 in the conference.

In set one, the Wolves used a 5-0 run in the middle of the frame to extend their lead from two to seven points. NSU secured the eight-point victory, 25-17, after grabbing the final two points of the set. In the second set, Upper Iowa held a 16-14 lead midway through and tied the score late in the frame, 21-21. Northern State grabbed four of the final five points to pick up the 25-22 victory. Upper Iowa continued to pressure the powerhouse Wolves in the third set; the Peacocks took an 18-14 lead thanks to a 9-3 run highlighted by a pair of kills from freshmen
Haley Poula and
Haley Weepie. The home team rallied for a 25-22 win to claim the sweep after closing out the set on an 11-4 run.

Weepie knocked down 9 kills, while
Chelsea Berry added 8 and
Alisha VanderWoude and Poula both chipped in 7.
Carlee Ketchum and
Malissa LeClaire paced the attack with 16 and 15 assists, respectively.
Gabby Holmes had 20 digs for UIU, while
Kelsey Hinrichs dug 16 attacks up.

Upper Iowa returns to Dorman Gymnasium on Oct. 28-29; the Peacocks host the Beavers of Minot State University on Friday and the Marauders of the University of Mary.
