The Peacock volleyball team ran into a buzz saw this afternoon in Wayne, Neb.  Upper Iowa lined up against the #5 Wildcats of Wayne State College for their fourth match against a nationally-ranked opponent in their last five contests.  Wayne State earned the sweep by set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-13 to improve to 11-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while UIU dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC. 
The Wildcats held the Peacocks to .121 hitting percentage with just 30 kills on the afternoon.  
Jennifer Mundt led Upper Iowa's attack with 11 kills, while 
Ashley Larson led the defense with 18 digs on the back line.  
Malissa LeClaire had 13 assists, while 
Jenna Hermsen handed out 11. 
While the Wayne State defense was making life hard for the Peacocks, the offense controlled the action with 48 kills and a .271 hitting percentage including a .319 average in the first set and a .394 mark in the final set.  
Following the weekend, Mundt needs just 20 kills to tie the all-time kills mark at Upper Iowa.  Shea Meyermann holds the record with 1,305 in her four years with the Peacocks. 
The road doesn't get any easier for the Peacocks next weekend as they will face the #3 Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday night in Fayette before welcoming the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday afternoon.
