Peacock fans are quickly becoming familiar with the new faces of Upper Iowa's offense this season.
Dimitri Morales found
Jarred Edmonds three times for touchdowns in the second quarter as UIU broke a scoreless tie to take a 21-0 lead into halftime. Morales claimed his fourth touchdown pass in the third finding
Brandon Rogers and a pair of
Brady Beuschel field goals (23, 38) bracketed to scores from U-Mary to set the final score at 34-16.
The win keeps Upper Iowa undefeated this season (2-0) and improves their record against the NSIC North Division over the last fourteen games to 11-3 including eight straight.
Morales threw for 446 yards and 4 scores on 36 of 59 passing and added 52 yards on the ground.
Trey MacTaggart hauled in 9 passes for 158 yards, while
Jalen Amis caught 9 balls for 60 yards. Edmonds had 7 catches for 108 yards and the three td's and
Cameron Lee grabbed 7 for 78 yards..
On defense, the Peacocks allowed just the two scores and a pair of two-point conversions. The blackshirts were led by
Tate Thompson (7 tackles and 2 interceptions), Nick Corley (10 tackles),
Alex Wahl (7),
Cole Stephen (7) and
Jevell Rollins (5).
Upper Iowa returns home next Saturday, Sept. 19, for a 6 p.m. showdown under the lights at Harms-Eischeid Stadium with the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota Crookston.
