A LOOK AT THE FIELD IN FAYETTE THIS WEEKEND… There will be no shortage of good volleyball in Fayette from Thursday night through Saturday night. The six teams competing are a combined 18-6 through the first week of the 2015 season. Upper Iowa and Michigan Tech both played in the Wildcat Open hosted by Northern Michigan. Michigan Tech comes in with an undefeated 4-0 record and owns a win over Upper Iowa in the season opener for both squads. MTU is a perfect 12-0 in sets played. Upper Iowa comes in with a 4-1 mark which includes four straight wins including one over Northern Michigan. The Wildcats posted a 3-1 record last weekend in their home tournament falling only to the Peacocks in five sets. Minot State and St. Cloud State are both members of the Northern Sun Conference with Upper Iowa, but the matches will be non-conference matches this weekend. South Dakota Mines traveled to Topeka, Kansas to compete in a tournament at Washburn last weekend, while MiSU played in the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanook Classic and SCSU competed in the Central Missouri Tournament.
