The Minot State University Beavers swept a pair of NSIC baseball games from Upper Iowa on Friday in Minot, N.D. The home team rallied from a one-run defecit in game one to win 11-6, and after trailing by eight runs in the second game, powered back to claim a wild 24-17 victory. In game one, Minot State took an early 5-0 lead thanks to five hits in the opening inning. Upper Iowa answered with six runs on just three hits and two Beaver errors. The big hit in the inning came off the bat of
Adam Budron, who drove in a pair of Peacocks with a single through the right side. UIU's one-run lead, 6-5, would be short-lived as a three-run homerun in the bottom of the third returned the lead to the home team for good.
After scoring their six runs in the third, Upper Iowa was held to just three hits for the remainder of the game, while the Beavers added two more in the fourth and one final run in the sixth inning to post their 11-6 win.

Upper Iowa led 10-2 heading to the bottom of the third inning after scoring five runs in the top of the second and again to open the third. The Peacocks sent 17 batters to the plate between the two innings coming up with nine hits and a hit batsmen to score their ten runs. The highlight of the second inning was a
Mitch Moser single to right center that plated a pair of Peacocks. UIU's second baseman fueled the big inning in the third with a three-run homerun to left field driving in half of UIU's runs by the end of the third.
After Minot State scored a pair of runs in the second thanks to a homerun by A Berntson, the home team went wild in the bottom of the third inning. The Beavers sent 16 batters to the plate recording 10 hits to score 12 runs and not only rally from an eight run defecit, but take a four-run lead 14-10. MiSU scored the dozen runs after a groundball double play put two outs on the scoreboard. The inning was highlighted by a three-run homerun by Jesse Goertzen, a grand slam homer by Kyle Williamson and a double off the bat of Jordan Schulz that scored two.
UIU got one run back in the fourth, but Minot State pushed their lead to eight, 19-11, with five runs on three hits including their fourth and fifth longballs of the game. Keith Ailes hit a solo homer to center and Schulz delivered with a three-run shot to right field.
The Peacocks cut the gap to four with a pair of runs in both the top of the fifth and sixth innings, while the Minot bats were quiet for three innings from the fifth through the seventh. With
Tanner Poor taking the mound for UIU and holding MiSU without any extra runs,
Jacob Greco hit a two-run homerun to left field in the fifth and
Eric Cottrell led off the sixth with a solo longball and

For the day, the Peacock bats were solid earning a .355 average with 27 hits including 6 doubles and 3 homeruns, but the Beavers hit .458 with 33 hits including 12 extra base hits (4 doubles and 8 homeruns) and 11 walks.
