Adam Budron tripled to right centerfield to clear the bases and give the home team a 7-4 advantage.
Minnesota Crookston used a two-run homer to the scoreboard in right center by Kenny Perez to pull within one run, but
Cody Heiman came in the game and got UIU through the three outs of the sixth fueled by a diving catch in center by
Jacob Greco and a strikeout to end the inning.
Upper Iowa entered the bottom of the sixth inning with a one-run lead, but the home team took advantage of two Golden Eagle errors, three walks and three hit batsmen. The Peacocks scored eight runs in the inning after sending a baker's dozen to the plate. The home team only recorded three hits in the frame, but all drove runners to the plate. Greco opened the scoring in the sixth with an rbi-double and closed the barrage with a bases-clearing double that scored three. Jacob Stenberg matched Greco's four runs batted in during the inning with a grand slam over the wall in left field between Greco's doubles.
Colt Haight homered to left field in the top of the seventh for Minnesota Crookston to put the final margin to seven runs, 15-8. UIU set new season highs in runs and runs batted in thanks to the result.
Blake Seehusen (1-0) earned the win with 1 inning of work. He allowed two runs on two hits after taking over for starter
Tyus Adkins. Adkins threw the first four innings; he cruised through the first three innings, but gave up the grand slam to Perez in the fourth.
