The Peacock wrestling team came out on the short end of 25-9 Northern Sun Conference dual against Augustana College. The Vikings remained perfect in the NSIC (7-0), while handing Upper Iowa their first conference loss of the season (6-1). Augustana won seven of the ten matches claiming a pair of wins in sudden victory and adding a pair of bonus-point wins by their two nationally-ranked wrestlers.

Upper Iowa got off to a good start in the dual as Blake Sorensen (#5 NWCA) posted a 6-5 victory at 184 pounds for an early 3-0 Peacock lead. Unfortunately for Peacock fans, the next time a UIU wrestler's hand was raised for the win came after seven straight Viking victories.

Augie pulled ahead 6-3 as Jayd Docken (#5 NWCA) scored a win by fall at 197 pounds and Michael Lowman made it 9-3 after outlasting Logan Hopp in the second sudden victory period (4-2) of the heavyweight match. The home team kept it rolling at 125 pounds where T.J. North (#1 NWCA) claimed a major decision win to push the Viking lead to 13-3.

Matt Paulus took a 3-0 lead in the second period of the 133-pound bout, but Morgan Engrecht rallied with a takedown and two nearfall points in the second to claim a 4-3 lead and added a takedown in the final period for a 6-3 win. Jeremiah Peterson and Jacob Anderson posted the fifth and sixth straight wins for Augustana at 141 and149 pounds.

The Vikings claimed a second sudden victory at 157 pounds when Shawn Hatlestad earned a 3-1 win over Jordan Rinken (#4 NWCA), the NSIC's reigning Wrestler of the Week. The win gave Augustana a 25-3 lead with two matches to go.

Upper Iowa claimed wins in the final two matches as Colbey Vance (165) and Dalton Westerlund (174) claimed decisions by 4-3 and 4-2 (SV1), respectively. The wins cut the margin, but the Peacocks lost the dual 25-9.

The Peacocks will host the #1 Huskies of St. Cloud State University on Sunday at 2 p.m. UIU will recognize their senior class prior to the dual.
