The Peacocks dropped a four-set decision to the #20 Vikings of Augustana University on Saturday afternoon in Fayette. Upper Iowa recognized their seven seniors including student coach Brad Sweeney and six players. The six seniors included
Tyann Caspers,
Sydney Cyzon,
Sarah Frisch,
Jenna Hermsen,
Jennifer Mundt and
Taylor Williams.
A night after the Peacock defense was tenacious posting 73 digs in three sets against #4 Wayne State, UIU had trouble keeping the ball off the ground as Augustana hit .306 for the match posting wins in sets one, three and four. Upper Iowa closed the season out with a 14-15 record overall and an 8-12 mark in the Northern Sun Conference.
After dropping the first set, 25-21, Upper Iowa bounced back and controlled the play in set two. The home team held Augustana to a meager .054 hitting percentage and recorded a 25-19 win fueled by Mundt's 5 kills in the frame. After the break, Augie got out to great starts in the third and fourth sets and Upper Iowa battled, but always found themselves a few points behind.
Mundt registered 17 kills on the night giving her 440 for the season which breaks her own single-season program record which she set a season ago at 439. For her career, the Utica, Minn. product has set the UIU record in total kills at 1,499. Williams and Hermsen led the defense with 10 digs each, while
Ashley Larson and
Kelsey Hinrichs both added 9 digs apiece. Hermsen paced the offense with 28 assists and
Malissa LeClaire chipped in 11 assists.
The group of seniors logged 50 wins for Upper Iowa over the last four seasons.

Brad SweeneyBrad has spent three seasons with the volleyball program as a student coach and has been a huge asset from practice to matches. Brad came to Upper Iowa from Waukon, Iowa and will graduate with a degree in sports administration.
Tyann CaspersTyann came to Upper Iowa from Bird Island, Minnesota four years ago and lost her senior season due to injuries. She has played in 160 sets over 42 matches recording 267 kills including 209 as a junior, 46 assists, 87 digs and 43 blocks. Tyann is the daughter of Peter and Taran Caspers and will graduate with a degree in biology and psychology.
Sydney CyzonSydney arrived in Fayette from De Pere, Wisconsin and has played in 128 sets and 52 matches in her four-year career. The defensive specialist has registered 126 digs and 18 service aces. An active member of the student-body government, Sydney will graduate with a degree in biology. She is the daughter of Jeff and Renee Cyzon.
Sarah FrischSarah came to Upper Iowa after two years at Des Moines Area Community College. In her two seasons with the Peacocks, the middle has been at the net through 139 sets over 44 matches. She has posted 133 kills, 66 digs, 46 blocks, 43 assists and 7 service aces. Sarah is the daughter of Tim and Becky Frisch and will earn her degree in biology.
Jenna HermsenHermsen came to Upper Iowa from West Delaware High School and competed with the Peacock softball team for two years before joining the volleyball team three seasons ago. The setter has played in 278 sets in her 76 matches over the last three seasons recording 1,235 assists, 576 digs, 37 aces and 33 kills. Her 605 assists this season are the 13
th most in program history and her career assist total is 6
th all-time among Peacock setters. Jenna graduated with her bachelor's degree in exercise science last May. She is the daughter of Kevin and Bev Hermsen.
Jenny MundtJenny, a two-time All-NSIC performer, came to Fayette from Utica, Minn. and Lewiston-Altura High School. Since her arrival, her right arm has been one of the best in the Northern Sun and all of NCAA Division II. The humble hitter owns UIU's records in kills/season with 439 and is only 16 kills shy of tying her own mark this season; she also is the Peacock career leader in total kills with 1,482 and total attempts with 4,138. Jenny has played in 426 sets, the 8
th most all-time at UIU, over the course of 115 matches. Her 186 blocks also rank 8
th all-time and she has also recorded 541 digs, 57 assists and 28 aces. Jenny is the daughter of Tim and Flo Mundt and will graduate with a degree in physical education and health.
Taylor WilliamsTaylor came to UIU from New London, Wisconsin and has manned the back lines for UIU in 249 sets and 76 matches as a defensive specialist and libero. She has recorded 779 digs including 471 this season while adding 101 assists and 33 aces. This season's dig total ranks 5
th all-time, while her career total is 12
th-best in program history. Taylor, also an active member of the student-government at UIU, is the daughter of Jeff and Cheryl Williams and will graduate with a degree in mathematics, financial management and accounting.
