The #9 Bulldogs of the University of Minnesota Duluth's offense was nearly unstoppable on Saturday. The home team hit .536 in the match with 51 kills and only 6 attack errors, while holding the Peacocks to just 27 kills. The loss dropped UIU's record to 14-11 overall and 8-8 in the conference, while UMD improved to 18-7 overall and 11-5 in the NSIC.
Mariah Scharf of the Bulldogs led all players with 18 kills and Ashley Hinsch handed out 43 assists to lead the Bulldogs. The home team won the three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-11.
Upper Iowa got 6 kills from both
Lauren Wombles and
Jennifer Mundt, while
Jenna Hermsen and
Malissa LeClaire picked up 13 and 8 assists, respectively.
Taylor Williams registered 7 digs and
Kelsey Hinrichs added 5.
The Peacocks remain on the road next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, with matches at the University of Sioux Falls and #4 Southwest Minnesota State University.
