LIVE STATS: Augustana || Wayne State
NSIC Weekly Release
This week in Peacock women's soccer… Upper Iowa (0-3) finishes the tail end of a four-game road trip. The Peacocks look to get back to .500 in conference play in their first game of the weekend at Augustana on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Vikings are 4-1 to start the year, currently on a three-game win streak and are 1-0 in conference play. The Peacocks hold the all-time series record with Augustana at 5-1-1, however, every game has been decided by one goal, including three overtime affairs. UIU will then travel to Wayne State to take on the Wildcats on Sunday at 1 p.m. Wayne State is 1-2-1 this season and 0-1 in conference, losing to Augustana, 4-0, on Sept. 11. The Peacocks are undefeated against the Wildcats since 2007, compiling a record of 6-0-2.
To be the best, play the best... Although the Peacocks have started the year 0-3, Head Coach
Brian Diaz knew it would be a tough road. Upper Iowa's three opponents so far are a combined 12-1, and Winona (No. 10) and Rockhurst (No. 20) are nationally ranked and undefeated. The lone loss belongs to Central Oklahoma, who dropped their first game of the year against No. 2 Minnesota State, Mankato, a team that the Peacocks will play at home on Oct. 31.
Kaitlyn "Saves" the day... Junior
Kaitlyn Emanuel has played all 270 minutes in goal for the Peacocks this year. She's tied for sixth in the conference with 17 saves and tied for fourth averaging 5.67 saves per game.
Offense by Committee... Upper Iowa is yet to find the back of the net this season, but
Madie Edwards,
Aimee Wronski and
Lauren Rohrmeier are the Peacocks who have been applying consistent pressure. Edwards leads UIU with nine shots this season, good enough for eighth in the NSIC at 3.0 shots per game. Wronski is second on the team with seven shots and Rohrmeier is just behind her with six.
Last week for the Vikings… Augustana picked up two shutouts, first defeating Wayne State, 4-0, thanks in part to two goals and an assist from freshman Samantha Arnold. The second win was against Missouri Western State, 2-0, scoring twice in the first half then holding on to preserve the clean sheet. Last week for the Wildcats… Wayne State dropped their first match last week to Augustana, 4-0. The Wildcats then fell to Colorado Christian, 2-1, giving up two goals in the final ten minutes.
