This Week in Peacock Volleyball… The Peacocks split their four matches last week with wins over Saint Joseph's College and Black Hills State University. UIU lost a four-set match to Minnesota State University, Mankato and was swept by Wayne State College at the Maverick Invitational hosted by MSU. This week, Upper Iowa will travel to Winona State University on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. to tip off the Northern Sun Conference season before returning home for the weekend. The Peacocks will host the Marauders of the University of Mary on Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Beavers of Minot State University on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Jennifer Mundt were named to the Maverick Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend for their second all-tournament nod of the season. The pair was named to the Keweenaw Classic's top team after the season's opening weekend in Houghton, Mich.
Setting the Table... Brown and
Jenna Hermsen are tag teaming the Peacocks' setting duties and have combined for 328 assists this season for an 11.85/set average. Brown has earned 199, while Hermsen has collected the other 129. Brown has played well in her dual role picking up 76 kills while Hermsen's serve control has been the fuel behind several Peacock runs early in the season. The pair have also done their fair share defensively; Hermsen has 98 digs on the year and Brown registered 94 digs with 13 blocks (.39/set).
On the Defensive... Senior libero
Amanda Weiss has led the Peacock back line through the first eight matches with a team-high 153 digs. Her 4.64 digs/set average is 7th best in the NSIC and the team's 18.48 digs/set is 2nd best among the 16-team conference. Five Peacocks have put their stamp on the keeping the ball off the ground including Weiss, Mundt (102 digs), Hermsen (98), Brown (94) and
Taylor Williams (81). Middle blocker
Haylie Franklin has played well at the net recording 32 blocks for a .97/set average, while Mundt adds .52 blocks/set.
Playing Above the Net... Junior
Jennifer Mundt has posted the fourth most kills/set in the NSIC so far this season with 4.27. Her 141 kills over the first 8 matches nearly double the next highest total for UIU, but after Mundt, the team's attack is balanced between Brown (76),
Tyann Caspers (70),
Alisha VanderWoude (54) and Franklin (48). As a team, the Peacocks have 416 kills and are averaging 12.61/set while averaging 5.6 errors/set.
A Glimpse at the Peacocks' Opponents…WINONA STATE… The Warriors are 5-1 on the season. WSU leaders include; Danielle Rampart (OH, 5-10, Fr., Trevor, Wis.) tallied 36 kills in a pair of games with Quincy and Lewis last week and recorded a career high 24 kills in a five-set match against Lewis… Taylor Goar (OH, 6-0, Rf., Champlin, Minn.) recorded 32 digs in a pair of matches last week and compiled 18 kills… McKenna Larsen (S, 5-7, Fr., Oconto Falls, Wis.) passed out 90 assists and 22 digs in two matches including 57 assists against Lewis.
U-MARY… The Marauders are 3-6 this season. U-Mary leaders include; Lauren Boldt (RS, 5-10, Sr., Red Wing, Minn. / Red Wing) averaged 3.06 kills and hit .241 over five matches and added .56 blocks (three solo, seven assisted) during the week. She reached double digits in kills in four matches and had nine in the fifth and posted 13 kills against both Jamestown and UPR-Rio Piedras… Alex Brown (DS, 5-4, So., Coon Rapids, Minn. / Blaine) averaged 4.33 digs/set with a high of 21 against Jamestown and had double-digit dig totals in 4-of-5 matches… Lauren Randall (OH, 6-0, Fr., Eagan, Minn. / Burnsville) averaged 2.94 kills/set and 2.11 digs/set over five games. She posted double-digit kills three times and had a season-high 19 kills and a .429 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Chadron State.
MINOT STATE… The Beavers are 2-6 so far this season. Minot State competed in the Northern State Invitational this weekend after competing in the Montana State-Billings Invite last weekend. The Beavers dropped both matches on Friday to Minnesota-Crookston (3-1) and St. Cloud State (3-0). Minot State's struggles continued on Saturday when they faced nationally ranked Northern State and later Southwest Baptist. Both matches were lost in straight sets. Freshman Rachel Fagerburg (OH, Tempe, Ariz.) recorded 46 kills over the weekend. Jen Dixon (Sr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) tallied 52 kills at the Northern State Invite after recording 49 the previous weekend. Dixon did well defensively for the Beavers as well, recording 51 digs. After beginning the season with a 2-0 record, the first time the program has done so in the last six years, Minot State has dropped 6 matches in a row.
