This Week in Peacock Volleyball… The Peacocks have a shot at returning to .500 in conference play this weekend with two matches in northern Minnesota. Upper Iowa (8-8 overall, 3-5 NSIC) are coming off a solid weekend at home. UIU defeated St. Cloud State in four sets on Friday night to post their sixth win over the Huskies in their last seven meetings. On Saturday, the Peacocks snapped #2 Minnesota Duluth's set-win streak which had reached 25 prior to the second set domination by Upper Iowa. Bemidji State University (3-13, 1-7 NSIC) will welcome the Peacocks on Friday night at 7 p.m. The University of Minnesota Crookston (8-8, 2-6 NSIC) hosts Upper Iowa on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Entering the weekend, UIU is in ninth place in the standings while UMC is in 11th and BSU is in 14th.
Mundt's Making Her Mark... Junior hitter
Jennifer Mundt was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week this past Monday. The Utica, Minn. native led the Peacocks to a 1-1 mark over the weekend as she recorded an NSIC-high 45 kills (5.62/set) in eight sets versus St. Cloud State and #2 Minnesota Duluth. She had 27 kills against SCSU and followed that up with a 18-kill performance facing UMD. Mundt hit .402 for the week with only 8 errors and added five digs and two blocks. She currently ranks 7th in the nation and 2nd in the NSIC in total kills with 260 and 11th in country and 2nd in the conference in kills/set with 4.19.
Digging the Defense... The Peacock defense has been solid against opponents attacks this season. Upper Iowa has posted 1,091 digs this season, which is the 22nd most in the nation and highest mark in the NSIC, and an average of 17.6 digs/set (35th NCAA/2nd NSIC). Amanda Weiss, who is ranked 53rd nationally and 4th in the conference with 278 digs this season and her 4.48 digs/set are fifth most of any Northern Sun Conference player. Six Peacocks are averaging over 2 digs/set in addition to Weiss including

Haylie Franklin has been doing her part at the net as well registering .94 blocks/set with 11 solo stops.
Beaver Leader Courtney Volkmann... Volkmann notched 43 assists (7.17 assists/set) in two matches last week versus Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State... posted 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .429 in 21 attempts last week... needs just 167 more assists to move into a tie for sixth place on BSU's all-time assist list with former Beaver Amy Soehren (1992-95)... currently ranks 10th in the conference with 383 assists (9.12 assists/set).
Golden Eagle Leader Brittany Looker... Became UMC's all-time kills leader with 13 kills against Concordia-St. Paul Saturday. Looker now has 1,277 kills to surpass Allison Kluck's previous mark... tallied 14 kills and 11 digs in a 3-1 win over Minnesota State University... was UMC's first-ever win in Mankato over Minnesota State... notched 13 kills and three digs in the loss to Concordia-St. Paul.
