THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK WRESTLING… Upper Iowa will have a tough weekend ahead with a dual on the road Saturday afternoon in Aberdeen, S.D. and a home dual on Sunday afternoon back in Fayette. The Peacocks will take on the Wolves of Northern State University on Saturday and then challenge the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Sunday. Both duals are set for 2 p.m. starts.

MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY… The Peacock wrestling program and UIU Athletics Department will be recognizing and honoring the military surrounding their home dual on Sunday with Southwest Minnesota State. Upper Iowa will be wearing their camouflage singlets for the dual.

THEY'RE GOING DOWN, WE'RE YELLING TIMBER... The Peacock wrestling program has collected 130 wins by fall this season, which is the second most among all divisions in the country. The top mark is 140 by Grand View College, while the top five is rounded out by the University of Iowa (127), Johnson & Wales College (123) and Wartburg College (123). Upper Iowa leads NCAA Division II with second place belonging to #3 St. Cloud State University (121).

PEACOCKS IN THE POLLS... Upper Iowa is currently ranked 8th in the latest NWCA Top 20 Poll and four individuals are also ranked in the top 8 in the nation. The ranked Peacocks are Carl Broghammer (197, #2), Blake Sorensen (184, #4), Edwin Cooper (149, #5) and Logan Hopp (HWT, #7).

"COOP" THERAPY... Edwin Cooper's opponents could be getting together soon for group therapy after the redshirt sophomore's first half of the season. He has posted a 29-2 record with an NCAA Division II-leading 17 falls, as well as a tech fall and 3 major decisions. The New Lenox, Ill. native has been name the Northern Sun Conference Wrestler of the Week twice and is currently leading the NCAA Division II Most Falls Awards Race.

CLOUD NINE... Redshirt senior Carl Broghammer has earned 128 wins in his four-year career and is now just 9 wins shy of taking over the all-time lead in wins at Upper Iowa. Hall of Famer Cliff Thompson currently holds the mark at 136 wins. The Manchester, Iowa product is 28-2 this season with 16 wins by fall, 2 by tech fall and 3 by major decision. His 16 pins are tied for second in NCAA DII.

FOUR SHADES OF RED... Four redshirt freshmen have made a huge impact on the Peacock lineup this season. Heavyweight Logan Hopp leads the group with a 22-10 including 10-1 in duals. Colbey Vance is 27-12 at 174 pounds with 13 falls which are tops amongst the quartet. Dalton Westerlund is 20-12 and has 8 wins by fall at 165 pounds, while Jordan Roths rounds out the group with a 17-9 mark at 141 pounds.
