Upper Iowa 6-8 (2-3 NSIC) || Bemidji State 5-8 (1-3 NSIC)
Recap
The Peacock volleyball team held a 2-1 advantage on the scoreboard and had a slim one-point lead in the fourth set to close out the Bemidji State University Beavers, but the visitors scored the final two points of the set to force the fifth and deciding set. BSU took the momentum and claimed an early 8-6 lead, but UIU fired back and led 14-11, just one point shy of the win. Bemidji State rallied with five straight points to win the set and the match and post their first NSIC victory of the season.
Bemidji State earned the win in set one as the Peacock defense struggled to get their hands on the Beavers' attacks. BSU knocked down 16 kills in the first set while recording a 25-21 win. In the second set, UIU's hitting and defense picked up and it appeared, thanks to a pair of 25-18 wins, that Upper Iowa was headed toward their third straight victory.
However, in the fourth set the Beavers racked up 14 kills en route to a 25-23 win. Upper Iowa had 15 kills, but 9 attack errors proved to be too much to overcome. UIU held a 22-21 lead near the end of the set, but BSU scored four of the final five points to even the match at 2-2.
In the final set, Bemidji State came out well and pushed out to an 8-6 lead when the teams swapped ends. The Peacocks rallied after the switch with a 5-1 run that saw the home team claim an 11-9 lead. After BSU tied the match at 11-11, Upper Iowa looked to put it away and had the serve with a 14-11 lead. The Beavers then stormed back with five straight points to earn the set win, 16-14, and post their first conference win of the season.
