Bemidji State defeated Upper Iowa, 3-2, on Friday night in NSIC play in Bemidji, Minn. After the Peacocks took the first set, the Beavers edged out consecutive 25-23 wins to take a 2-1 advantage. UIU won the fourth frame, before BSU claimed the final set and earn the victory.
The Peacocks registered a 25-19 win in set one, but the Beavers held UIU to hitting percentages of .167 in the second and .030 in the third to pick up the two-point decisions.
In the fourth set, Upper Iowa outlasted Bemidji State 25-20 taking advantage of eight Beaver errors and pushing the game to a fifth frame.
The home team captured the fifth set posting a 16-14 win hitting .500 and taking advantage of 5 Upper Iowa errors. The Peacocks recorded their highest hitting percentage of the night (.227), but were unable to stop the Beaver attack. BSU tallied 10 kills to just 1 attack error. The Peacocks led 12-11 thanks to a 4-0 run, but Bemidji State scored five of the final seven points to register the final match win.
