The Peacock volleyball team had played five sets in each of their last four matches, but tonight's match with the #2 Bulldogs of the University of Minnesota Duluth was decided in just three sets. Upper Iowa only committed 15 attack errors on the night, but the Bulldog defense proved to be up to the task.
Minnesota Duluth jumped out to a big lead, 17-7, en route to a 25-17 win in the first set. While the Peacocks hit just .176 in the opening set, the team bounced back with a solid effort in set two.
The Bulldogs continued their strong play in the second frame pushing quickly out to a 10-3 lead. Upper Iowa mounted a comeback to pull within two points, 15-13. The UIU run was fueled by three kills from freshman
Chelsea Berry. The team stayed close, but couldn't get any closer falling 25-23. UIU hit .263 for the set with 15 kills and 5 attack errors.
In the third set, UIU and UMD came out strong and remained tied when the teams hit the 16-point mark. The Bulldogs took over from that point though scoring nine of the final twelve points in the match to get the 25-19 win and take the match in straight sets.
The win marked the Bulldogs' 19th straight win at home.
