NSIC Weekly Release

This Weekend in Peacock Volleyball… The Peacock volleyball team will host the #15 Wildcats of Wayne State College and the Vikings of Augustana College in a pair of NSIC matches Friday and Saturday in Dorman Gym. Upper Iowa will look to snap a five game skid that started in their last home match back on Sept. 28. Wayne State comes into the weekend having won two straight and snapping a losing streak (3) of their own; WSC defeated Minnesota State and Peru State in their last two outings. Augustana enters the weekend having dropped their last match to Concordia-St. Paul, but prior to the loss the Vikings had won six straight matches including an upset of nationally-ranked Wayne State to get the streak started.

Last Week for the Peacocks... The Peacock volleyball team lost a pair of road matches in the NSIC this past weekend at Sioux Falls and #6 Southwest Minnesota State. Both matches were lost in straight sets and pushed UIU's losing streak to five. Sophomore Jennifer Mundt led the Peacocks with 21 kills in the two matches including 15 against the #6 Mustangs of SMSU.

Last Week for the #15 Wildcats... Alyssa Frauendorfer, a 6-0 freshman middle/outside hitter, led WSC in hitting last weekend averaging 3.12 kills with 0.62 blocks while hitting .468 against #1 Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State. Frauendorfer accounted for 16 kills while hitting .412 with four blocks in Friday's 3-2 loss to Concordia-St. Paul and added nine kills with a .615 attack percentage (9-1-13) to go with six digs in Wayne State's 3-0 sweep over Minnesota State. Setter Leisa McClintock averaged 10.12 assists per set for WSC, handing out 54 assists against CU and 27 against MSU. Wayne State's win Saturday over Minnesota State made Scott Kneifl the all-time winningest coach in Wildcat history. He is now 215-74 in his ninth season at Wayne State and surpassed Sharon Vanis, who was 214-213 in 12 seasons (1993-2004).

Last Week for the Vikings... Augustana expanded its win streak to six matches with a win over Minnesota State before falling at the hands of #1 Concordia-St. Paul. In Friday's four-set win over the Mavericks, Courtney Ysker and Holly Hafemeyer combined for 36 kills to lead the Vikings. Augustana also tallied nine blocks with Kelsey Kaufmann (five) and Taylor Hrdlichka (four) providing the front line defense. Against No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul, the Vikings couldn't keep their streak alive as they fell in straight sets on Saturday. Holly Hafemeyer came just two kills shy of reaching 1,000 for her career when she hit an Augustana-high 13 kills. On the weekend, Marissa Johnson dished out 79 assists in her seven sets of work.
