Women’s soccer coach Brian Bahl had high hopes for this year’s squad coming into the new year. With a lot of talent returning, the sixth year coach felt this could be his best team yet. So far, he has been right.

After a 1-0 victory over NSIC-opponent Minot State on Saturday, UIU finished its second weekend sweep in conference play this season with a 2-0 victory over U-Mary on Sunday. Kali Loescher, Lauren Rohrmeier and Jill Schechinger all found the back of the net over the weekend, helping the Peacocks solidify themselves as a contender for the NSIC conference title.

A five-match winning streak has helped the Peacocks jump up two spots in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Poll. Thanks to a program-best 7-1 start, UIU jumped from seventh to a fifth-place tie with Truman State in the Central region. Click here to view the poll.
Rank Team Record
1 Minn. St. Mankato 6-1-1

4 Central Missouri 6-0-2
5 Upper Iowa 7-1

No. 7 Winona State is the only team so far this year to beat UIU. The Warriors dropped their third match this season this past weekend and fell two spots from last week’s poll.

UIU is now in full control of its own destiny at this point in the season. The Peacocks will play No. 1 Minnesota State – Mankato in the final match of the regular season at home on October 28th in a contest that will determine seeding in the NSIC Tournament.
