Box Score Upper Iowa improved to 2-1 in the NSIC and 5-1 overall with a win over the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth Sunday afternoon in Fayette. It is the first time in five tries that UIU has defeated UMD. The Peacocks outshot UMD 22-9 en route to their 2-0 victory. The Bulldogs fall to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference with the loss.
Amanda Millard got things going with her first goal of the year in the 31st minute. Minnesota Duluth was called for a handball inside the penalty box, resulting in a penalty kick for UIU. Millard capitalized on the opportunity with a strike to the left side of the goal, giving Upper Iowa a 1-0 lead.

Elizabeth Kaluzinski extended the Peacock lead with her second goal in two days.
Jill Schechinger served up a pass down the left sideline, and Kaluzinski took over from there. The senior beat the defender and drove a twenty-five yard bullet through the right side of the net, giving UIU a 2-0 advantage.
Upper Iowa outshot the Bulldogs 11-2 in the second half, while goalkeeper
Amanda Smith held her ground on the other end. Smith recorded four saves on the afternoon, which set up her fourth shutout of the season.
The Peacock women finish up their five-game home stand this weekend with the Beavers of Minot State on Saturday and the Marauders of U-Mary on Sunday. Saturday’s match kicks off at 12 p.m. and Sunday’s match begins at 1 p.m.
