Upper Iowa entered this year's Northern Sun Conference season with momentum on their side after winning six of their first eight matches, but on Friday night in Sioux Falls, S.D. the Vikings of Augustana were in complete control from the first serve.
Augie won the match in three sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-14) to improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC. The home team held their guests to a .157 hitting percentage, while they racked up twenty more kills (47-27) and a .381 hitting percentage.
The Peacocks hit well in the second set, .300, with 10 kills and only 4 hitting errors, but the Vikings still outdid them with 16 kills and a .433 percentage.
Melanie Behnke and
Jennifer Mundt each had six kills, while
Hailey Brown and
Kayla Wagner each added five as the team was held to just 27 kills on the night.
Skylar Lesan assisted on all but five of the kills bringing in 22 assists.
Upper Iowa (6-3, 0-1 NSIC) will line up at the net again tomorrow in Wayne, Neb. as they face the #18 Wildcats of Wayne State.
