Today’s Northern Sun Conference Dual... UIU welcomes the #5 Vikings of Augustana College to Dorman for tonight’s final home dual of the season. The Peacocks have successfully defended their home this year posting a 4-0 record in Fayette. UIU has won all five of their NSIC duals thus far thanks to wins at Northern State (41-4) and U-Mary (32-7) and at home against Southwest Minnesota State (28-9), Minnesota State (24-12) and MSU Moorhead (37-7).
Thank You... The Peacocks will recognize their four seniors prior to the match tonight. The four seniors include Kyle Pedretti, Winston Robbins, Zach Rosol and Luke Stika. This season alone these four young men have combined for 78 wins in 107 matches.
Peacocks in the Polls... Upper Iowa is currently ranked #3 in the latest NWCA Top 20 Poll and six individuals are also ranked in the top 8 in the nation. Scouting the Vikings... The Vikings are coming off a home weekend where they picked up two wins over Southwest Minnesota State (20-15) and Northern State (31-4). Augustana (12-2, 4-1 NSIC) has only one blemish on their NSIC record to this point which came against the #1 Huskies of St. Cloud State. Augie is ranked #5 in the latest NWCA Top 20 Poll and boasts five nationally-ranked wrestlers including Nate Herda, the nation’s number one at 149 pounds.

Last time the Vikings and Peacocks met… Augustana 29 – Upper Iowa 8 (Feb. 11, 2011) - The Peacocks suffered a 29-8 decision to Augustana in Sioux Falls, SD. With the victory, the Vikings secured the 2010-11 NSIC title thanks to a 7-0 record in conference. UIU won the 184 pound match by technical fall and the heavyweight match by decision.
On the Horizon... Upper Iowa will take the mat for their final dual of the season this Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. in St. Cloud, Minn. The Peacocks will line up with the #1 Huskies of St. Cloud State for a rematch of their January meeting at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. SCSU claimed the first meeting by a 22-13 score. Upper Iowa will return to St. Cloud in two weeks for the NCAA Super Regional on Sunday, Feb. 26.
