Box Score The #2 Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul have a way of ramping up their play in November and December. Concordia has won the last six NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships and based on their performance in Dorman Gym on Saturday evening, the Bears are ready to take a run at number seven.
The Peacocks were swept by their guests by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-8. The loss drops UIU's record to 15-12 overall and 9-9 in the NSIC, while CU improves to 22-3 overall and 16-2 in the conference. Upper Iowa is now 9-3 at home this season.
For the match, Concordia hit .457 with 56 kills, while Upper Iowa hit .165 with 26 kills. After holding the Peacocks off in the first two sets, the Golden Bears dominated the final set with 17 kills and only one attack error.
#Melanie Behnke# hit well for UIU but her opportunities were limited. The junior hit .400 with 8 kills in 20 chances.
Skylar Lesan handed out 20 assists, while
Amanda Weiss picked up 10 digs on the back line.
Upper Iowa has two matches remaining on their regular season schedule. The Peacocks will wrap up with home matches against the #16 Wildcats of Wayne State College and the Vikings of Augustana College next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9-10.
