The #6 Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato controlled the game today in Mankato, Minnesota coming away with a convincing 70-7 victory over Upper Iowa. The loss drops the Peacocks' record to 2-9 overall and 0-7 in the NSIC South.
The home team picked up more than 600 yards of total offense and raced away from their guests. The Peacock offense gained just 233 yards on offense with 78 yards on the ground and 155 yards through the air. Minnesota State doubled Upper Iowa's first downs as well, 27-13.
Minnesota State scored 28 points in the first quarter and added 21 more in the second to claim a 49-0 lead heading to the locker room. The Mavericks continued to pour it on in the third quarter with a pair of touchdowns to take a 63-0 lead.
Brandon Rogers put the Peacocks on the board in the fourth quarter; the back up quarterback rushed into the endzone from 16 yards away.
