The Vikings of Augustana College amassed 459 yards and 49 points in the first half of today's NSIC South Division match up with the Peacocks. Upper Iowa was shell shocked in the first half as their guests scored a touchdown on all seven of their possessions before halftime. The Peacocks dropped to 2-5 overall after the 66-20 final; the loss marks the third straight for UIU and all have come against division foes. Augie improved to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC South.
The teams split the time of possession in the first half right down the middle, but the Vikings were much more productive scoring 28 points on 19 plays, while the home team came up empty on their 19 plays. Dajon Newell scored on a pair of runs from 33 and 2 yards and Josh Hanson ran over the goalline twice from 17 yards and 1 yard. Newell added his third score to open the second quarter and then Hanson found two different receivers streaking to the endzone for the final two Viking scores of the half.
Prior to halftime, the Peacocks scratched the scoreboard on a four-play, 76-yard drive that used just 31 seconds off the clock.
Caden Duncan opened the drive with a 41-yard rush and followed it with a 16-yard scamper into the red zone. With two seconds left on the clock,

Augustana owned the ball in the third quarter keeping the Peacock defense on the field for nearly thirteen minutes. UIU's defense held up during the quarter holding the Vikings to just seven points in the fifteen-minute span.
Upper Iowa got a spark from
Ray Bradley and backup quarterback
Brandon Rogers in the fourth quarter. Bradley rushed for 59 yards in the quarter and Rogers threw for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Rogers hit
Derek Giesking on the home side of the field and the Peacock receiver was able to turn the corner and sprint up the sideline into the endzone for a 48-yard score. Rogers second touchdown throw went to
Evan Dornink, who pulled in a pass on the far sideline and dove into the endzone for the score.
Augustana hit a field goal and a final touchdown on a pass from their fifth quarterback of the day, Justin Heinrich, to Matt Gerry for a 23-yard touchdown.
Duncan lead the Peacock offense with 111 yards on 14 carries, while Jaeschke, UIU's starting quarterback, threw for 116 yards and one score.
Keaton Hosch led the receiving corps with five catches for 43 yards, while Giesking pulled in four balls for 57 yards and a score.
Tom Nesvik had a game-high 11 tackles for UIU, while
Ethan Douglas and
Jordan Andera each registered 10 tackles.
Upper Iowa will head to Southwest Minnesota State next Saturday, Oct. 20, for a 5 p.m. kickoff with the Mustangs in Marshall, Minn.
