The Peacock women's soccer team opened their NSIC season on the road this evening in Winona, Minn. Upper Iowa dropped a 2-0 decision to Winona State to fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC.
Sarah Colleran opened the game's scoring in just the fourth minute when Sarah Colleran netted a goal on assists from Samantha Fegen and Rebecca McCoy. The second goal for the home team came in the 68th minute as Katy Soliday notched a goal on assists from Colleran and Melissa Sellier.
For the match, Winona State doubled Upper Iowa's shot count 16-8.
Amanda Smith made 7 saves for the Peacocks in goal.
Upper Iowa will play their first home match this coming Sunday at Pattison Field in Fayette. UIU will face Jamestown in a women's/men's double header beginning at 1 p.m.
