The Peacocks didn't show any signs of a hangover after their biggest win in program history. After a morning upset of #18 Rollins in four sets, Upper Iowa swept Bemidji State (25-20, 25-16, 26-24) to close out their run at the UMD Tournament in Duluth, Minnesota. With the wins, the team's record sits at 6-3 overall.
Following the match, a ten-person All-Tournament team was selected by coaches and UIU's
Sara Vance earned the nod for the second straight tournament.
UIU outhit their opponents .261 to .156 after posting a 44-36 advantage in kills for the match. The team's highest hitting percentage came in the first set as they hit .361 when they tallied 15 kills and only 2 errors.
The Peacocks were led by another trio of double-digit killers in the match.
Kayla Wagner and
Kristy Hinrichs each knocked home 11, while Vance registered 10.
Skylar Lesan recorded 39 assists, while
Nicky Brown added 20 digs and 8 kills. Hinrichs added 15 digs, while Vance and
Danielle Gernes chipped in 10 apiece.
Upper Iowa opens their Northern Sun Conference season on Tuesday with a road match in Marshall, Minnesota. The Peacocks will take on the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State at 7 p.m.
