The Peacock volleyball program lost a five set thriller at Augustana College Friday evening to fall to 14-13 overall and 7-10 in NSIC play. Upper Iowa won the first set and forced the deciding set with a 26-24 win in the fourth set, but Augustana prevailed thanks to a 15-8 win in the fifth and final set.
Upper Iowa's hitters dominated the first set with 17 kills to just 2 attacking errors while hitting .441, but the Peacock attack fell off in the second and third sets hitting below .200. UIU rallied in the fourth set for a win thanks to .270 hitting, but managed just 4 kills in the final set of action.
Augie's Jordan Spatenka dominated the match with 25 kills while hitting .429. Mikayla Gallagher added 18 kills at a .400 percentage.
The Peacocks were led by
Sara Vance, who registered 16 kills and 16 digs while hitting .341 for the match.
Maryn Fulton led the team in hitting percentage (.600) with 7 kills, while
Nicky Brown added 16 kills and 14 digs.
Kayla Wagner added 9 kills, while
Amanda Weiss tallied 12 digs.
Skylar Lesan handed out 47 assists on the night.
The team will move down to Wayne State for a match tomorrow at 3 p.m.
