The Peacocks dropped a shootout thriller to the Huskies of St. Cloud State University today in the semifinals of the NSIC / U.S. Bank Women's Soccer Tournament. Both teams scored one goal a piece in the first half and it stayed that way until it went to shootout where St. Cloud won it, 6-5. Upper Iowa's season is over with a final record of 9-7-4 and 6-4-3 in conference play.
With the win, the Huskies advance to the finals to take on the Mavericks of Minnesota State. The Mavericks won the other semifinal matchup earlier today over the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth by a final tally of 4-0.
SCSU struck first in the 8th minute on a goal from Chelsey Permenter that went unassisted.
UIU was able to answer in the 32nd minute on a goal from Decorah native,
Alyssa Petersburg.

Things stayed knotted up at 1-1 throughout the second half as well as both 10-minute overtime periods even though the Peacocks outshot the Huskies by a total of 16-6.
In the seventh round of the shootout, Upper Iowa missed but St. Cloud State hit their opportunity to claim a 6-5 victory and move onto the finals.
