Box Score
Every once in awhile you need a bit of luck. The Peacocks got a bit of luck today and took advantage to post their second straight NSIC win and improve to 4-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference. UIU is 2-0-1 in their last three matches.
Upper Iowa survived a heavy wind at the backs of the Golden Bear offense in the first half and then took advantage of the gusty conditions in the second half.
In the 79th minute,
Kali Loescher took the ball down the right sideline and hit a long kick into the box. Loescher and most of the team thought the ball had sailed too far and was going to be caught by the CU goalie. But the ball came up short of the keeper, who was caught in between, and bounded over her head and just snuck inside of the right post on a second hop.
Concordia outshot their hosts 10-5 in the first half with the wind, but the wind helped the balance shift in the second half as Upper Iowa controlled the attack with a 9-2 advantage in shots.
Amanda Smith made three saves to earn the shutout victory.
The Peacocks will return to Pattison Field tomorrow afternoon for a match up with the Huskies of St. Cloud State at 1 p.m.
