Concordia-St. Paul came into tonight's match with the Peacocks having lost only two sets all season. After the Peacocks pushed their hosts, the #1 team in the nation and four-time defending NCAA Champions, in the first set, the Golden Bears controlled the second and third sets from start to finish as they swept the match to move to 17-0 overall and 8-0 in the NSIC. With the loss, UIU falls to 10-8 overall and 4-5 in NSIC play.
The Peacocks held a 15-14 lead in the first set, but a 7-0 run by the home team turned the momentum for the rest of the match. The Golden Bears ran away with the second and third sets holding Upper Iowa to just 11 and 12 points.
UIU hit just .047 tonight with 22 kills compared to 18 attack errors. The numbers would have been more grim without the play of
Sara Vance. The senior right side hitter recorded a hitting percentage of .333 with 11 kills and just 3 attack errors.
Skylar Lesan added 19 assists and 9 digs from her setter position.
Concordia overpowered their opponents to the tune of a .430 hitting percentage including 52 kills and just 12 attack errors.
The win marks Concordia's 37th in a row, 57th in a row at home and 78th in a row in the NSIC.
Upper Iowa will face the Huskies of St. Cloud State tomorrow afternoon in St. Cloud, Minnesota in a rematch of this past Tuesday's match in Fayette. The Peacocks took the first match up in four sets.
