UIU Women's Soccer Set to Defend Pattison Field


This Week in Peacock Women’s Soccer…
The Upper Iowa women’s soccer team is at home this weekend with matches against  Concordia University, St. Paul on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. and St. Cloud State University on Sunday at 1 p.m.  UIU is coming off a big road weekend that saw the Peacocks tie Wayne State, 1-1, and defeat Augustana, 3-2, to improve their NSIC record 1-0-1.
 
Peacocks Ranked Among Nation’s Leaders…
The team is ranked 34th nationally and second in the NSIC in scoring offense with 2.44 goals/game… Liz Kaluzinski is ranked 93rd nationally and 4th in the NSIC in points per game with 1.44, 98th nationally and 5th in the NSIC in goals per game with 0.566 and 10th in the NSIC in assists per game with 0.33.
 
Scouting the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul…
The Golden Bears (5-5, 4-2 NSIC) will be on the road again this weekend as they look to gain some valuable results against Upper Iowa (3-5-1, 1-3-1 NSIC) and Winona State (7-2-1, 5-0 NSIC). The Golden Bears are in second place in the NSIC and are two wins shy of tying the school record for most wins in the NSIC.

Last weekend the Golden Bears picked up their fourth NSIC win of the season in a 2-1 victory at Bemidji State.  Concordia has four wins in the last five matches, tying their 2010 mark for wins. Upper Iowa and the Golden Bears are two of the highest scoring teams in the NSIC. CU is third in the conference in points per game, 5.9, and third in goals per game 2.10, UIU is second in points per match, 6.44 and second in goals per match with 2.44.
 
Scouting the Huskies of St. Cloud State…
The St. Cloud State University soccer team (4-6-0, 2-4-0 NSIC) lost two matches last weekend by identical 2-0 scores.  The Huskies lost to Bemidji State on Saturday and then dropped to Minnesota Duluth on Sunday.  SCSU is led by Kara Dahmen (3 goals, 1 assist) and Mary Morhardt (2 goals, 3 assists) on offense and Kenzie Hanzlik in goal (49 saves, 1.6 GAA).
